What is inside

Every workbook has the same five sections

So that once you have used one, you can use any of them without relearning the layout.

Inputs
The cells you fill in. These match the input fields on the paired calculator exactly.
Outputs
The calculated results. In the XLSX these are live formulas; in the CSV the formula is written out as a note so you can apply it yourself.
Example
Illustrative values so you can see the shape of a completed sheet before you overwrite them.
Action
The practical steps that follow from the result.
Disclaimer
The same educational-use statement that appears on the site.

Workflow

How to use one

  1. 1 Run the paired calculator first — it is faster for testing assumptions than a spreadsheet.
  2. 2 Download the workbook that matches the decision you are making.
  3. 3 Replace the example values with your own real or conservative numbers.
  4. 4 Check the output formulas against the methodology page if you want to verify the arithmetic.
  5. 5 Work through the action steps before committing money.

FAQ

Common questions

What is in these workbooks?

Each file is a worksheet version of one calculator on this site, organised into five sections: Inputs, Outputs, Example, Action, and Disclaimer. The XLSX version carries live formulas; the CSV is a flat fallback with each formula written out as a note in the row.

Do I need Excel to use these?

No. The XLSX opens in Excel, Google Sheets, Numbers, and LibreOffice, and the live formulas work in all of them. The CSV opens in any spreadsheet application or plain text editor, but you will need to apply the formulas yourself using the notes provided.

Are these free, and do I need an account?

They are free and there is no account, no email capture, and no signup. Downloading a file sends us no information about you or your business.

How are these different from the calculators?

The calculators update instantly in the browser and are better for testing assumptions quickly. The workbooks are better when you want to keep a record, work through numbers with someone else, or plan away from the site. Both use the same formulas, which are documented on the methodology page.

Why is there no separate page for each workbook?

There used to be. Those pages existed mainly to deliver the file, and the file is available here and on the paired calculator page, so they were retired in July 2026 and now redirect to the relevant calculator. No downloads were removed.

Can I share these with my team?

Yes, inside your own business, including with your team. They may not be resold or redistributed as your own product. Avoid putting sensitive customer, legal, tax, or financial details into shared files unless your business has appropriate controls.

Privacy note

These are static files. Downloading one sends us no information about you or your business, and no account or email address is required. See the privacy policy for what the site does load.

Educational disclaimer

These workbooks are educational planning tools published by Silver Shine LLC. They are not tax, legal, accounting, investment, or professional advice, and the example values in them are illustrative arithmetic rather than benchmarks.
